Softball

Competitive Softball is open to girl’s ages 7 - 12 years old as of December 31, 2015. All players ages 8 and above must participate in player evaluations and will be drafted to a team based on their age and ability. After the conclusion of player evaluations all players are drafted to a team by the managers.

The Competitive Softball Division includes the following programs:

Minor League "AA" or "Junior Minor" League Division - Is for girls ages 7 - 9 years old. The "AA" Division is first level of Softball. Players are taught the fundamentals of the game and to learn how to better work together on the field. The principles of sportsmanship are introduced to all players. All players hit via either player or coach pitch and each inning is completed after either 5 runs or 3 outs. The "AA" Division includes the fundamentals of catching, fielding and throwing and proper instruction on the basics of hitting. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and pitching distance is 35 feet. Players must attend tryouts. Teams are chosen by draft. Parental assignment preferences are not available from this level upward.

Minor League "AAA" or "Minor" League Division - Is for girls ages 8 - 11 years old and is the level directly below the "Major" League Division. Players are taught and learn to refine the fundamentals of catching, throwing and fielding. Life lessons of learning proper sportsmanship are taught and emphasized. The game is played with a continuous batting order and each inning is completed after 5 runs or 3 outs. There are free player substitutions. All players must play at least half the game. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and pitching distance is 35 feet with an 11 inch ball. Players must attend tryouts. Teams are chosen by draft. There are approximately 20 games in the season and this division may inter-league with other local Little Leagues. League Champion moves on to play in District 4 Tournament of Champions (TOC) at conclusion of season. "Minor" Division picks players ages 9 and up to assemble All-Star teams to represent the league in the State All-Star Softball World Series tournament.

"Major" League Division - Is for girls ages 9 - 12 years old. The "Major" Division is one of our upper divisions and the game is played with a regular 9 person batting order and no run limit per inning. The fundamentals of the more intricate parts of the game are taught and emphasized to better advance the player to the next level. "Majors" rules are similar to High School softball rules, examples are players can leave the base on the release of the pitch and the drop 3rd strike is in play. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 40 feet with a 12 inch ball. Players must attend tryouts. Teams are chosen by draft. Once drafted to a team, the player becomes a property player. All 12 year olds must play in the "Majors" except for rare circumstances. There are approximately 20 games in the season. This division may inter-league with other local little leagues. League Champion moves on to play in District 4 Tournaments of Champions (TOC) at conclusion of season. "Major" Division picks players to assemble an All-Star team to represent the league in the international All-Star Softball World Series tournament at conclusion of season.
